Dayna & Alexs Spring wedding at The Cruin
Spring in Scotland brings with it an air of magic, a promise of new beginnings. It was in such a setting, at The Cruin by the serene Loch Lomond, that Dayna and Alex chose to begin their life together. As a wedding photographer based near Loch Lomond, I’ve been privileged to capture many beautiful beginnings, but this wedding had an allure all its own. I grew up close by to the Loch and even got engaged here myself so Loch Lomond is such a special place to me and I adored photographing Dayna and Alex here.
The Venue: The Cruin, Loch Lomond
Nestled on the banks of Loch Lomond, The Cruin offers a breathtaking backdrop that is quintessentially Scottish. With panoramic views of the loch and the surrounding highlands, the venue serves as a perfect canvas for a photographer. The walled garden and the pier at The Cruin, where much of Dayna and Alex's photography was centred, provided intimate spaces for personal moments to unfold.
Getting Ready
The morning buzzed with excitement as Dayna and her bridesmaids prepared. Laughter filled the air, punctuated by moments of reflective silence as Dayna stepped into her wedding dress. Alex, meanwhile, shared jokes with his groomsmen, the light-hearted banter easing the wedding day nerves. "I felt surprisingly calm, knowing I was about to marry my best friend," Alex later shared.
Held outdoors, the ceremony was a tribute to spring’s splendour. Blossoms fluttered gently in the breeze as Dayna walked down the aisle, a vision of elegance. The couple exchanged vows under a floral archway, with the loch providing a majestic backdrop. Their promises to each other were heartfelt, mirroring the depth of the loch itself.
Our stroll to the pier was another memorable moment. The tranquillity of Loch Lomond, coupled with the soft, golden light of the afternoon, made for stunning photographs. The couple's ease with each other, their laughter echoing over the water, the sea plane in the distance made for some lovely images.
